WELCOME TO OUR HOUSE

From the Editors

To those who stumbled upon this page through Instagram, the GSAPP website, or were looking for tutorials on how to PEEL a banana creatively– hello, welcome to PEEL (a vibrant student journal). We hope you stay, for at least a few sentences, or at least until you’re distracted by the next clickbait, COS pop-up, or urgent email. We promise you- it will be worth it.

This web journal boasts works by Architecture students produced and edited between classes, lectures, all-nighters, and any other precarious situations they found themselves in. It attempts to show a range, whether of topics (Corn, Peat, Subways, Paint, Landscapes, Medicine) or media (Poems, photo-essays, multi-faceted projects, landscape alternatives) that might change our view on what is architecture. This is not an attempt to blow your mind with intricate graphics, superficial aesthetics or complex words, but to offer a new perspective to the broad world of what we believe architecture is and what we might now accept it as.

The articles are arranged on a blank board, not unlike a bowl of peels plonked on a table, for once not overlooked nor hierarchical to each other, but rather an invitation to sift through. Read one, read all. The Peels highlight the significance of subjectivity and thus counter the apolitical, objective approach to architecture

We, a bunch of eight new GSAPP AAD alumni are excited to share this work with you; Illustrations, writings, editing, and countless conversations about what PEEL might be. Please enjoy, move, play, and share.
